Worldwide Solar Breakdown

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), of the 27 GW of cumulative solar capacity installed in the world, 17 GW are residential, with 3 GW of commercial capacity, 5 GW of utility scale capacity, and the remaining off grid installation.

The IEA predicts that by 2050, there will be 3,155 GW of installed capacity, with 1,380 GW or 44 percent of global cumulative capacity will be residential, while 404 GW, or 13 percent will be commercial installations. 908 GW or 29 percent is expected to be Utility scale installations, and 463 GW or 15 percent of installations are expected to be off grid installations.
