Seattle City Light to Increase Electricity Rates by 13.8 Percent

Starting January 1, 2010, Seattle City Light will be raising its rates by 13.8 percent.

Seattle City Council’s Budget Committee recently voted 5-4 to support this rate increase and is scheduled to take a final vote November 23. The rate increase will take effect over two years, and helps to maintain City Light’s financial stability and strong bond ratings.

If I may quickly editorialize, I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of volatile energy prices.
