Hails From
I was lucky to grow up in Alaska (Anchorage area primarily) and stayed through my undergraduate studies. My time growing up there helped create a deep love for the mountains and coastal waters. It is one of the reasons I love Washington so much. If you haven’t been to Alaska yet… lets talk!
Activities
I am most grounded when I am both active and in nature. I love a walk in the woods, a hike in the mountains, or time in/near the water. I especially love this time when I am with my partner and pup. My heart is also full when I am keeping up on my Chicago Cubs and playing/watching hockey.
Volunteer Work
I have spent time on the education and event committee of the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild. An organization focused on educating people on the sustainable built environment.
Accreditations, Licenses, and Degrees
At one time I was a licensed engineer. That time has come and gone. I completed an MBA program in Sustainable Business, which was a transformative experience for me.
Favorite Nonprofit
I admire the work that Facing Homelessness has done. I have always wanted to shelter people… and so… their past work to not only shelter those unhoused, but ask us to ‘just say hello’ and see the faces we don’t often see is inspiring. I also love the One Roof Foundation and its partnership with the Seattle Kraken… providing housing for teens is amazing work.
Fun Facts
I love animals (thanks to my time growing up around my mom who was a Vet Tech)… so please bring your pet by to say hello and I will spoil them. In 2003 I took a road trip over 2 months and went to every baseball stadium in the U.S. in one trip. It was a doozy and an amazing experience as a big baseball fan. My time growing up in Alaska inspired me to move toward Green Building and Renewables. I was able to see environmental change during my first 20 years there and it is what motivated me to change careers with an effort to make a positive impact against climate change.
