Solar-Powered Children’s Museum Opens New Location

KidsQuest Children’s Museum’s new downtown Bellevue location opened to the public after more than a year of renovations.

A&R Solar installed a solar energy system on the steep-pitched roof of the museum. And our installation team did it decked out in spandex superhero costumes.

A&R Solar donated the system–valued at $25,000–to the museum as part of the Solarize Bellevue campaign.

Solar Superhero InstallationWe must admit: It was our most unique installation. Ever.

Stunned citizens watched in amazement as solar superheroes performed the super-install. The donation, part of the City of Bellevue’s environmental stewardship program, will help offset the museum’s energy costs and serve as a great teaching tool.

“The Board of Directors and staff at KidsQuest Children’s Museum are grateful for the generous donation from A&R Solar in support of the Solarize Bellevue program,” said KidsQuest board member Pete Miller. “Generating electricity on the roof of our new building will help us reduce operating expenses allowing us to spend more of our revenue on excellent programming for children. We are also excited to incorporate this feature into our educational programming on renewable energy.”

The interactive museum is for infants to 8-year-olds to explore science, technology, engineering and art through play. Originally located in Factoria, the museum attracts more than 180,000 visitors a year.
