Washington now has a solar sales tax exemption

Washington-Solar-Tax-Exemption-Passed-With-100-Percent-Clean-Electricity-Act

Thanks to the 100% Clean Electricity Act passed in 2019, Washington solar tax exemption means sales tax has been removed from most typical residential solar energy systems.

For the average customer, that means savings of around 10 percent.

Systems 100kW and under installed after July 1, 2019, will not be subject to sales tax. A typical residential system is around 10kW.

Larger commercial solar projects will also get some sales tax relief.

The 100% Clean Electricity Act also means that the state’s electric system will be free from fossil fuels by 2045, including coal by 2025. It also incentivizes energy efficiency.
