This home in the King neighborhood of Portland was remodeled to become a high-performing residence that will consume as little energy as possible. In addition to its passive solar characteristics, A&R Solar installed 24 Made-in-Oregon SolarWorld panels and two SMA inverters to offset all of the home’s energy use. The project is driven by Rooted Investing as a model to demonstrate how building a healthy, sustainable and high performance home is not only better for the environment, but also makes financial sense. The owner is aiming for the gold standards in green building certification: LEED, Passive House, Earth Advantage Net Zero, and U.S Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home. She also wants to share what she learned during the rebuild process by sharing blueprints and other documentation with the public.
