In its third generation of family ownership, Audi Seattle/University Volkswagen has installed the first solar energy system on a car dealership in Washington State.
“We are leaders, and this is a responsible thing for us to be doing,” said Miles Richardson, General Manager and Vice President of Audi Seattle/University Volkswagen. “We see the future, and electric vehicles are the future. We see the current power arrangements are just not sustainable long term.”
Audi has released its first electric vehicle, the e-tron. The solar panels will charge the fleet of EVs and save the dealership almost two million dollars over its lifetime.
“This is what our customers are demanding,” Richardson said. “We’re leading the way with our solar power project, as well as leading the nation in Audi electric vehicle sales. This is only the beginning.”
