Solar News: Mariners, Walden Pond Go Solar, Wearable Solar

Around the office we read news stories from around the world everyday. On one level I’m sure it’s good for our business to stay abreast of current events, but that’s not why we do it. We read all of the news because we all love what we do. We find solar, sustainability, technology, distributed energy, and everything related to these subjects endlessly fascinating. This week we’re bringing you just a small sample of the stories that caught our eye.

We finished construction of Seattle City Light’s next Community Solar Project on Capitol Hill. As far as we know this is the first Community Solar Project that has been installed on affordable housing.

On a kind of local note, the Seattle Mariners are installing solar on their training facility… in Arizona.

Walden Pond, inspiration for Henry David Thoreau and from him the birth place of the conservation movement, is going solar.

In California, the widespread adoption of solar and other Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) is changing the shape of the load curve.

We’re always seeing novel designs for solar, and now some big names want in on solar clothing.
