While it may not be shocking, it is true that you can increase the value of your home by equipping it with a solar energy system.
A publication from The Appraisal Journal suggests that home values increase by about $20 for every $1 deduction in annual utility bills. Conservatively speaking, an average 3.0 kW system saves a Seattle homeowner about $200 a year in electric bills and generates a net metering credit of about $400. You can therefore assume that a 3.0 kW PV system adds about $12,000 to the value of the home, while at the same time reducing the costs of its energy bills!
Combine this with the fact that you are generating clean, green energy for your community and everyone benefits.
