Puget Sound Energy is expanding its renewable energy program.
Previously, the utility funded small scale solar arrays or wind turbines at schools. Now, the grant is also open to all institutions with a renewable energy education focus.
Grants will fund renewable energy education demonstration projects. Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000 and will fund demonstration systems ranging from 900 watts to 2 kilowatts. Projects will be installed this year.
The program was formerly called Solar Schools. It has funded 20 educational solar power projects over the last six years. There are two other changes to the program this year: all applicants are required to have used a PSE energy efficiency program in the past 36 months and the application process can be completed online.
