Earlier this year Edmonds solar advocates got together to bring a Solarize program to the South County area.
Solarize is a program of Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (Northwest SEED), Snohomish PUD, and South County neighbors with the purpose of accelerating solar energy awareness and installations through a group purchase of solar electric systems at a discounted price. Participants in the program attend a free public workshop to learn how solar energy works in South Snohomish County and to qualify for a free site assessment for their home or small business. South County resident volunteers competitively bid and selected A&R Solar as the program’s solar installation team.
Edmonds Lutheran Church is partnering with Solarize South County to promote the benefits of solar energy. For every home or business that goes solar through the program, A&R Solar will make a donation of time and materials to Edmonds Lutheran Church and Annie’s Kitchen. Once the program is complete the church will receive a free solar energy system to generate their own clean energy and reduce their operating costs.
Rev. Dr. Julie Josund, Pastor at Edmonds Lutheran Church strongly supports the mission and goals of the Solarize South County campaign: “We believe the caring for God’s creation goes hand-in-hand with Christian faith. We are eager to have this partnership with the campaign and look forward to a fruitful collaboration in sharing the benefits of solar energy to our friends and neighbors in Edmonds.”
“Doing social good is baked into our DNA at A&R. We believe that solar energy can make the world a better place in a very fundamental way,” said Reeves Clippard, Co-Founder of A&R Solar.
Participation has already closed to the general public, but one final workshop to benefit the church is being held this Saturday.
