Position Overview

The Oregon Sales Manager (OSM) wakes up each day wanting to empower salespeople with inspiration, to provide expert coaching, and to remove obstacles through streamlining processes and leading by example. S/he has sold solar in the Oregon market for several years, understands the twists and turns of the state’s unique “solar coaster,” and understands how the market will grow and adapt with and without incentives. This role requires the OSM to be a player-coach in the early stages – someone easing their way into the management of the team while also bringing in sales directly to acclimatize to A&R’s processes and methods. Gradually, the OSM’s team is so productive because of the continuous adaptations; s/he shifts towards enablement, continuous training, being A&R’s public face with other organizations, and completely owning the revenue goals for A&R Solar Oregon. The OSM will work closely with the Sales Director, iterating strategies that suit the changing landscape and the grow the business. S/he is also a cultural standard bearer for the office itself – claiming the opportunity to lead the company and expand throughout the state.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for delivering against revenue and profitability targets of the sales plan
  • Monitors lead sources, lead quality and works with the Sales Director on strategy adjustments
  • Effectively hire, manage, and drive the efforts of Solar Design Consultants (A&R’s sales staff)
  • Maintain an industry-leading customer experience resulting in exceptional customer satisfaction and referral rates
  • Articulate and deliver continuous training programs in both technical areas and sales methodologies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key A&R personnel in Project Management, Design, Accounting and works to improve interdepartmental information flow to and from the sales team
  • Provide excellent data analytics, reporting, CRM, and integrated marketing knowledge
  • Engage with the Marketing Director on specific strategies to encourage prospects to look A&R Solar’s way
  • Work with industry groups to promote A&R’s standing in the community including but not exclusive to OSEIA, Solar Oregon, Energy Trust, Forth, etc.
  • Promote the company’s core values and continuously measure your team against them

DIRECT SALES RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build trust and rapport with prospective customers
  • Qualify prospects through the use of consultative, value based selling methods
  • Develop relationships and close deals via company-provided leads
  • Generate additional revenue through networking and referrals
  • Follow-up on post-sale logistics
  • Maintain Salesforce CRM records and other digital records as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of Oregon solar sales experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce and similar application-level technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills; math skills, a team player, persuasive negotiator, positive and innovative thinker
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and independently competent
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a fast –paced, entrepreneurial office setting, including tough decision processes, and rapid rates of change
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Occasional travel to customer sites and to Seattle headquarters
  • NABCEP certification preferred but not required

COMPENSATION

  • Depending on experience. Includes base salary, sales commission, medical/dental, 401k w/ employer match, annual education stipend, and a path to employee ownership.
